A Guide to Booking Helicopters for Char Dham Yatras in Uttarakhand
In light of many issues faced by the pilgrims during their 2023 Char Dham Yatras in Uttarakhand, there are new, fresh guidelines issued by the government and various stakeholders to make the experience more pleasant in 2024. Tourists must avoid falling into the tourist traps, fake websites, dubious touts and agents.
Here is the most complete and comprehensive guide on how to safely and reliably book their Heli yatras in 2024.
Before we begin, it should be noted that while there is an earnest attempt by the government to offer the helicopter services to all the tourists willing to avail the services, there is still a limited number of seats available for booking.
Here is how to book the Heliyatra for Kedarnath Chardham
- 1) You must create an account and register on https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/ using your mobile number. While you must create an account for the registration but any number of passengers can be added under the account. (Not every tourist needs to create an account)
- 2) Once the registration is complete, then head over to https://www.heliyatra.irctc.co.in/ to create a Heliyatra account.
- 3) Using that account, you can check the availability of seats on various helicopter providers and book and pay for tickets as and when they are available on first-come-first-serve basis.
- 4)Once booking is complete, you can print the IRCTC Heliyatra ticket and use it to board Helicopters at Sersi, Phata and Guptakashi for Shri Kedarnath Dham, as per the booking.
General Instructions for Passengers
- Registration for CharDham Yatras is only done on the government portal, for safety and security reasons. As it is mandatory for every tourist to register before beginning his Yatras you must register before booking heliyatra services as well.
Before booking Heliyatras you need to sign up and create an account, and validate it using your e-Mail ID and Mobile No on https://www.heliyatra.irctc.co.in/. After signing up for an account you can then login and book online Helicopter ticket.
You can use Group ID to book tickets for more than one passenger or use Unique Registration Number to book Helicopter Service for a single person.
A passenger can book up to 2 tickets, each ticket with maximum 6 passengers. More than 6 passengers are not allowed on a single ticket. For more than 12 passengers, you need to create another account.
You can check the site regularly for any update. Bookings are only allowed for maximum 3 days before the travel date, and 2 days in advance, meaning a window of 7 days is given when a booking can be made.
